Here at Route 66 Tours, we talk a lot about the interesting and fun people you're going to meet along one of our action-packed tours. We do understand, however, that Americans have a bit of a stereotype about their personalities – they're known for being a little louder than other nationalities. While this may be somewhat true, once you get to know them you'll see there's a lot of good conversation to be had, and that volume is purely just out of excitement!
Get ready for a good time and check out this list of personalities you'll meet along Route 66.
Introducing: Chicagoans and Illinoisans
Your first stop on many of our Route 66 tours is none other than in the windy city of Chicago in the great state of Illinois! People often hear Chicago and think 'mobs' thanks to Al Capone, but you're in the heart of the midwest, filled with some of the friendliest people in the country! After all, this city and state raised amazing people like Oprah.
Introducing: Missourians
As you drive on the Route 66, you'll next come to Missouri. If you haven't heard of this state before, you won't forget it when you leave! Missourians are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet, they'll give you the shirt right off their own back if you need it.
Introducing: Kansans
When you think Kansas do you immediately think of the 'Wizard of Oz' and all its farmland? That's fair enough – this is where the movie took place and it is, in fact, a major farming state. But while these are people with big hearts, clever minds and lots of courage, most Kansans have heard all the Oz related jokes before, so try not to take offence if they don't laugh at your jokes. Instead, they'd rather show you around their gorgeous state, quaint cities and, of course, talk 'Rock Chalk', the Kansas University chant heard loud and clear at Jayhawk games.
Introducing: Oklahomans
You might be a little frightened by Oklahoma as it's usually only featured in movies like 'Twister' and made up of small-town farmers. While it is indeed a big and beautiful farming state, it is also home of people with the biggest hearts, and the only thing those hearts love more than their country, is football. Enjoy a game and dig into some of the best comfort food you'll have in the States.
Introducing: Texans
This big state is indeed full of even bigger personalities – this might be where Americans get their loud stereotype from. However, Texans are often fiercely loyal and proud of their state so they love to show it off to newcomers.
Introducing: New Mexicans
New Mexicans are known for their belief in the supernatural – this state and its inhabitants have almost all seen something 'unexplained' in the sky. Beyond your own opinion on the existence of aliens, this state is still rich in culture and pride for Native American history. There's no other state quite like it.
Introducing: Arizonans
Get ready, this state is known for its spice! Of course, we mean this state is full of big personalities – but they do also love some spicy Mexican food. They love their Mexican dishes in Arizona, and they'll be sure to bring up how they've got the most authentic version of this food in the whole United States. This is one hot state, so they appreciate the shade, and by the end of the trip, so will you.
Introducing Californians
Californians are known worldwide for their incredibly laid-back attitude, but there's a bit more to them than that! You have to break Cali up into two groups – the north and south. Northern Californians are a hipster/surfer hybrid, very laid back. Southern Californians are a bit more high-brow Hollywood-glam. Both are very friendly, of course!
By the end of the trip, we have no doubt you'll love Americans and their unique personalities! Contact us here at Route 66 to plan a trip and visit these characters today.
